Two Hungarian immigrants named Oscar Luger and Bernard Weiss founded General Textiles. They had worked side by side on sewing machines at a Montreal textile factory in the early 1950s. The pair became fast friends and set out to create a company that offered a superior product at a fair price. And so in 1960, General Textiles was born.

Their brainchild quickly established a solid reputation for providing unparalleled customer service and customer satisfaction. General Textiles now serves a wide variety of retail and manufacturing customers across North America, offering fine fabrics for everything from tablecloths to school uniforms.

In fact, General Textiles is still owned and operated by the family of the original founders who are committed to upholding the rich traditions upon which the company was founded.
